D4I - Design for Innovation – pierwsze warsztaty regionalne w Zamku Cieszyn (20 kwietnia 2017r.)

Warsztaty p.t. „Mapowanie ekosystemu designu w województwie śląskim” to pierwsze z cyklu spotkań, które mają prowadzić do wskazania i wzmocnienia kierunków rozwoju designu w województwie śląskim. Warsztaty otwierające cykl spotkań odbyły się w dniu 20 kwietnia 2017r. w Zamku Cieszyn – regionalnym centrum designu, które od 2005 roku promuje design jako narzędzie służące restrukturyzacji województwa śląskiego.

Workshops "Mapping the ecosystem of design in Silesian Voivodeship" was the first of a series of meetings that lead to the identification and strengthening of the directions of design development in Silesian Voivodship. This opening workshop was held in Cieszyn Castle - a regional design center, which has been promoting design as a tool for the restructuring of the Silesian Voivodship since 2005.

Spotkanie było podzielone na dwie części. Pierwsza była skierowana do interesariuszy zarządzających designem w regonie, a druga część warsztatów służyła rozpowszechnieniu założeń projektu, przedstawieniu narzędzi i mapowaniem śląskiego ekosystemu designu. W tej części uczestniczyły 24 osoby zaangażowane w promocję i wdrażanie designu i innowacji na Śląsku, a wśród nich przedstawiciele Urzędu Marszałkowskiego Województwa Śląskiego, Zamku Cieszyn, Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach, instytucji otoczenia biznesu oraz projektanci.

 Punktem wyjścia dla spotkania było określenie kluczowych partnerów (interesariuszy, instytucje oraz inicjatywy), którzy mają na Śląsku wpływ na rozwój innowacji poprzez design, wskazanie istniejących pomiędzy nimi powiązań, określenie poziomu intensywności ich zaangażowania i wyrysowanie mapy ekosystemu designu. Podczas spotkania stworzono mapę obrazującą zaangażowanie, finansowanie, edukację i promocję designu w województwie śląskim.

Zestawienie i tocząca się dyskusja pokazały, że na Śląsku istnieje spora ilość inicjatyw, osób i instytucji stawiających sobie za cel promocję i wdrażanie designu. Pomiędzy tymi „graczami” występują relacje, jednak powiązania te w dużej mierze są incydentalne i nie są w konsekwentny sposób monitorowane i rozwijane. Dyskusja wskazała także, że nie istnieją systemy ani struktury, które w przejrzysty sposób pozwalałyby na wprowadzanie zmian na poziomie województwa – czy to w systemie edukacji (także tej podstawowej i przedszkolnej) czy wsparcia dla przedsiębiorstw, i które pozwoliłyby na budowanie szerszej świadomości roli designu. Tym bardziej zasadne są założenia projektu Design for Innovation, który kieruje uwagę na mobilizację regionalnych uczestników ekosystemu do stworzenia trwałej sieci powiązań, dzięki której interesariusze, projektanci, przedsiębiorcy i odbiorcy mogliby współpracować, a także współtworzyć regionalną politykę designu.

D4I- Design for Innovation – first regional workshop in Cieszyn Castle

Workshops "Mapping the ecosystem of design in Silesian Voivodeship" was the first of a series of meetings that lead to the identification and strengthening of the directions of design development in Silesian Voivodship. This opening workshop was held in Cieszyn Castle - a regional design center, which has been promoting design as a tool for the restructuring of the Silesian Voivodship since 2005.

The meeting was divided into two parts. The first was addressed to stakeholders engaged in managing the regional design ecosystem and the second part served dissemination the project's assumption and presentation project’s tools and working on the mapping the Silesian design ecosystem.

There were 24 people, involved in design and innovation in Silesia attending this part of the workshop. Among them there were representatives of the Silesian Voivodeship Marshal's Office, the Cieszyn Castle, the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, the business environment institutions the designers.

The starting point for the meeting was to identify key stakeholders (also institutions and initiatives) who have an influence in Silesia on the development of innovation through design, to identify of links between them and intensity of their engagement as well as to map the ecosystem of design. During the meeting also a map of involvement, financing, education and promotion of design in Silesian Voivodeship was created.

The participants were divided into randomly assigned teams which task was to complete the stakeholder maps and identified the institutions, initiatives, people and places involved in the promotion and design of the Silesian Voivodeship, and determined the level of intensity involved (4 levels).By filling of individual ecosystem map areas it was possible to specify the strengths and weaknesses of the different ranges of the map. After each stage of the workshop, the teams presented their problems and presentations were accompanied by discussions.

During the meeting participants established active entities, organizations, initiatives and people and created a map of involvement, financing, education and design promotion in the Silesian Voivodeship. The summary and the ongoing discussion showed that in Silesia there are a large number of initiatives, people and institutions aiming to promote and implement design and between these "players" there are some relationships but usually incidental and they are not consistently monitored and developed. The more justified are the assumptions of the Design for Innovation project, which draws attention to the mobilization of regional ecosystem participants to create a sustainable network that will enable stakeholders, designers, entrepreneurs and consumers to collaborate and to be involved in creation regional design policy.
